I formed a great bond with other women that shared that common thread of military service. It inspired me to really reconnect with my brothers and sisters. I found a new purpose.

Going on these fly fishing trips gives me back some of what I lost after retiring. While many things happened when I was in the military, I always survived. These trips bring you together with others who have been through similar experiences. It lets you know that you are not alone. Fly fishing is actually very relaxing and challenges you on a whole new level.

I have a really hard time being around people I am not close to . . . Once I got there being around everyone and once my nerves let me relax, I had a phenomenal time. The stories we all shared, the fellowship, realizing so much of our day to day lives with sleeping and eating habits, ailments etc are similar really made me feel better to know I am not walking this path alone anymore. I highly recommend taking the chance - get out of your comfort zone and bond with these amazing ladies. Bel is AMAZING!

This program is amazing! It provides women the opportunity to open up with others that understand the struggles or difficulties we experience in the military and/or life. It allows us to know that we are not alone in our journey. Being out on the river allowed me the opportunity to just momentarily put away stress/grief/trauma and breathe. I appreciate those who donate their time, effort, and funds that allow this program to continue. It is very much needed!

If not for this organization I would not have known the therapeutic benefits of fly fishing nor the beauty of where these fish live. The trips include a sense of adventure, camaraderie, and growth reminiscent of my time in service. The best part of the trips is the people combined with the beauty of God’s creation. I’m very grateful to Gunny Duckwall and his staff for their dedication and sacrifice to helping Veterans, such as myself, get together in the outdoors to learn the therapeutic art of fly fishing.

This trip is one of the best I have ever been on! Great experience!!! Great food, great people, and breathtaking views!!!

Our fly tying program began to grow from virtually nothing, to the point that we currently have twelve consistent active fly tying Veterans associated with our group. As time has progressed we have developed an internal support system for each other, and a camaraderie which makes our outings together on the river a much richer experience.

That trip in October 2015 was life changing for each of the ladies who attended. We connected over fishing, hanging out in the hot tub, and taking the soldier's woobie out in to a field where we laid under the stars laughing and sharing stories. I came back from that trip a different woman. I was no longer alone, I had true camaraderie and I could finally heal from what happened to me.
